I’m Harmony Brown, an innovator in the inspection industry, Founder & CEO of GreenWorks Inspections & Engineering, and a businesswoman who has achieved significant success in a field predominantly occupied by men.

My Mission

My journey began with a simple goal – to carve my path as an entrepreneur. Unexpectedly, this ambition steered me toward a sector that sparked a profound purpose within me. My objective is now well-defined: to uplift, support and empower inspectors. I also strive to inspire youth to chase their dreams, guide businesses toward success, promote women’s entrepreneurship, and make a positive impact.

My Company

Before it was GreenWorks, there was just me. I was trying to figure out where I could make a difference doing something I loved. I knew I wanted to shake up the real estate industry. I wanted to bring together a team of professionals who could provide a variety of services to real estate agents, homebuyers and sellers, creating a one-stop-shop providing all those services needed to prepare for this important investment.

From Startup to Success

Though GreenWorks Inspections & Engineering was officially founded in 2011, I actually launched my company in 2009, and initially it was a struggle! I was new to the field, and I needed to build relationships in the real estate community. I dedicated many hours to networking with realtors and investors. I knew I had a great idea, but I spent the first 16 months without a single client. I supported myself with several side-jobs while I tried to get GreenWorks off the ground.

Determined to make my mark, I seized every opportunity to demonstrate my willingness to go above and beyond. When I finally landed that first client, I did everything in my power to make sure they were happy with my service. I just needed to get my foot in the door and I knew I could be successful. I would offer to wash agents’ cars if they’d let my company inspect their properties. My life was consumed by my work, with little time for anything else.

Gradually, as I established trust with a few key agents and investors, word of mouth became my most powerful ally. I invested countless hours and every penny I earned back into GreenWorks. Finally in 2012, I was able to hire an inspector to work for me full-time.

From its humble beginnings, GreenWorks has grown into one of the nation’s leading real estate service companies, providing property inspections, environmental testing, structural engineering and concierge services for residential and commercial properties. GreenWorks currently serves all of Texas and has begun to expand into Colorado, Georgia, and Florida. GreenWorks boasts a team of over 140 certified inspectors, structural engineers, environmental consultants, account executives and administrative professionals. Together, we have built a company that strives to provide platinum-level service to every client, and a supportive environment to every team member.

Skills & Expertise

I explored several different paths at college and in my career and I doubted myself at first. But the challenges I overcame helped me understand and appreciate my strengths. They helped me build my confidence that I can do those things that I set out to do. The skills and qualities I’ve acquired along the way have been crucial to my success.

Building Relationships

My experiences taught me invaluable communication skills and the art of building relationships. Understanding clients' needs became second nature, shaping my journey as an entrepreneur.

Business Strategy

Starting from a small one-woman business to achieving huge milestones, I've learned to use a more logical, accessible, and client-oriented business strategy to provide inspections.

Problem Solving

Identifying real-time problems was the catalyst that motivated me to find solutions, like more sustainable practices and better working conditions for inspectors.

GreenWorks is the largest inspection company in Texas, focusing on property inspections, structural engineering, environmental testing, and concierge services for both residential and commercial properties. Besides winning several awards mentioned previously, we have grown to a team of more than 140 employees, including inspectors, structural engineers, environmental consultants, account executives and administrative staff. We perform more than 1500 inspections each month and have been successfully serving our clients for more than 13 years now.
